We had friends over for dinner last night and I made lasagna.  I had filled the pan of lasagna too full and after it got hot some liquid from it spilled all over my oven and made a big mess.  It was smoking and starting to burn.  Susie, my friend who was here for supper told me to pour baking soda into the bottom of the oven to absorb the spill.  She said that it would also keep it from smoking and would make the clean up later a lot easier too.  It worked great!

Baking soda also works on pots that you burn.  Just dump some into the pan with water and then simmer for awhile. The burnt food will eventually become loose and then the pan will be easy to clean.  I’ve saved a lot of  Revere Ware pots that way.
